Victor Alexandru Colțea (b. 1986, Romania) is a composer and the artistic director of the ensemble Sargo, a Lausanne based group dedicated to the promotion and creation of contemporary music.

His works include symphonic and chamber music with or without electronics, as well as multimedia compositions and theatre music that concentrate on themathics like the connections between purely musical processes and the ones outside of the music environment- be it physics, chemistry, mathematics, or semantics (as in pieces like Hyper Atom, Blockchain, etc.). Another important aspect in his music is also the link between social and artistic developments in our contemporary times (as in his Hyper Artificial, Immigrant, etc.)

His pieces were performed in different concert halls throughout Europe, by different ensembles and orchestras like Luzern Sinfonieorchester, Ensemble recherche, Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra, Ensemble Phœnix–Basel, Ilya Gringolts quartet, Ensemble Soyuz21, Thüringer Symphoniker Orchestra, Ensemble Sargo, Ensemble Fractales, etc., but also in many music festivals, such as Lucerne Festival, Blurred Edges (Hamburg); Mizmorim Festival (Basel), Davos Festival, SMC Lausanne, LOOP Festival (Bruxelles), Impuls Academy | Festival (Graz); International Week of New Music (Bucharest), etc.

He studied composition at the National University of Music in Bucharest, at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater in Hamburg, and at the Hochschule für Musik – Luzern. He won several prizes and scholarships, among them: the prize of the Mizmorim Festival 2022, the second prize of the Phoenix Satellite composition competition 2020, the first Prize at the Mendelssohntage Aarau 2017, the prize for musical creation for 2014 given by the Romanian Academy of Science and Arts, the prize of the Union of Romanian Composers and Musicologists for the chamber vocal section with the piece “Zori”, etc. He participated also in different Academies and Master-classes such as Composer Seminar during the Lucerne Festival, Impuls | Academy, etc.
